Off the shores of Tenerife, up to 17 different species of whales and dolphins inhabit the waters. Some of them, such as pilot whales or grinds, pygmy whales, and Risso’s dolphins, permanently reside in the waters of South Tenerife. From March to May, during their migration through these waters, one can spot Bryde’s whales, fin whales, blue whales, sperm whales, as well as beaked, striped, and spotted dolphins. Pilot whales or grinds are often spotted near Los Cristianos and Los Gigantes. The marine fauna of Tenerife is rich in various species of whales and dolphins, making yacht excursions here exciting and memorable.

However, whales often approach yachts very closely themselves, in which case the yacht must remain stationary. Playing loud music, swimming, and feeding animals are prohibited.
